About Martcel Albion
Early Career & Business
In the 1980s, Martcel Albion graduated with a degree in advertising. In the years that followed, he devoted himself entirely to building his own business. a company that mainly focused on designing and executing advertising projects, events and theatre decor. It was a very stressful existence: everything revolved around deadlines, and if, like Martcel, he wanted to do everything to perfection, which was an impossible task in itself, the bar was set very high.

The Turning Point
This proved unsustainable, of course, and Martcel finally collapsed in 2008. Ultimately, this resulted in bankruptcy. His business went bankrupt in 2009, which was a considerable psychological blow. The specialists informed Martcel that he had suffered a burnout, but he recently learned that in 2008 he had been struck down by a virus that had affected him several times before in his life, partly due to chronic fatigue syndrome and several similar conditions. In addition, due to the poor state of his immune system, caused by stress, the virus had taken hold in his immune system. It took Martcel years to slowly get back on his feet and start doing a little bits again.
Artistic Awakening
And Martcel would not have been Martcel Albion if he had not known what he was going to do next in his life. The silent desire to be an artist and the urge to do so had been brewing all these years and have finally come to life. Martcel's work consists of images that emerge from deep within his mind and, when processed, reach perfect expression. The urge to realise his images acts as an addiction to which Martcel can completely lose himself. Working as an artist gives him the freedom to produce without a clearly defined plan or external assignment. The work Martcel produces is an extension of his personality. Years of experience as a designer have inspired Martcel to focus entirely on his artistry. The art styles Martcel works in are geometric abstract art, abstract art, figurative art, Divisionism and Art Deco.
Photography & Women's Beauty
Martcel Albion has always been intensely fascinated by women's beauty. As a photographer, he seeks to capture the mystery of women. In the 1970s, he was deeply moved by the work of photographer David Hamilton. Martcel quickly realised that he wanted to explore this further. At a young age, he taught himself the technique of photography. The theme in Martcel Albion's photography can be described in terms of melancholy, heartbreak, shyness, passion, romance and tenderness. Naturalness and innocence are paramount, but emotion is never lacking. Martcel Albion considers himself as a romantic person, and this is reflected in his desire to capture women in such a way that they continue to fascinate him.
Music & The Ultimate Achievement
In 2019, Martcel Albion achieved what he would have thought impossible until then. Everything Martcel has achieved and done came about because of his love of music. Every design or creative work was inspired by the music Martcel listened to before or during his creations. It is no coincidence that Martcel is an audiophile. Among the many genres and styles of music, there is one musician and composer who stands head and shoulders above everyone else for Martcel Albion, and that is Mike Oldfield. Fortunately, in 2017, Martcel discovered a Spanish group called Tubular Tribute that played Mike Oldfield's music with exceptional feeling. After bringing people together here in the Netherlands, Martcel managed to bring Tubular Tribute to the Netherlands for three concerts in 2019. Martcel Albion has made a CD & DVD box set from the video and audio recordings made of the concerts. To this day, that is the ultimate achievement Martcel Albion has created.

Recent Challenges & Recovery
Unfortunately, the coronavirus broke out in 2020. Martcel Albion also became infected, despite, or perhaps because of, the two vaccinations he had received. The old virus that had been dormant in Martcel was reactivated in a very vicious way, forcing Martcel Albion to succumb to his illness yet again. It is now early October 2025. Martcel Albion had to keep quiet for more than five years. He is not there yet, but very slowly he is restarting to move again, and his creative mind is already sending out signals here and there.
Studio & Practice

The studio serves as both laboratory and sanctuary. A space where ideas take form through careful observation and patient experimentation.

Working across multiple mediums allows for a dialogue between disciplines—each informing and enriching the other in unexpected ways.
My practice is rooted in the belief that art emerges from the intersection of intention and accident. Whether through the deliberate layering of paint or the serendipitous capture of light, each work becomes a record of time, place, and the act of seeing itself.
